City 'Meister' To Run;Claims To Be First Citywide
While Kieffer Mitchell ascends to be Mayor of Baltimore, one person in his district wants to take his place. 30-year-old Adam Meister, an activist who lives in the Reservoir Hill section of the city claims to be the first person to file candidacy papers to run for any City Council race.

Meister, who was interviewed by The Baltimore Examiner in November about a possible run, made it official this past Monday. Also in the process he has named Heritage Crossing activist and resident Denitia Fleming as Treasurer, and Bolton Hill resident Louis Rouse as campaign chairman.

Meister is known for 'techbalt.com', a website that started out to be Baltimore's answer to 'craig's list,' but became a community forum to discuss problems in the city and toss around some solutions. The website and Meister was featured in a 2003 article from the Christian Science Monitor, for his grassroots effort to revitalize his neighborhood.

The 11th Councilmanic District in Baltimore City includes parts of Pigtown, North Federal Hill and the Downtown Business District. Meister is hoping to succeed Mitchell, who has represented the eleventh since 1995. His campaign website, in its early stages, is adammeister.com.
